Watching the miraculous ladybug fandom as someone who isn’t part of it is wild because like…there are four different ships that all only involve the same two people, everyone is freaking out because the OTP has confessed their love except it’s already happened 1204 times now and they are either too oblivious or get their minds wiped or some crap, no one can make up their minds about whether chloe is a good person or not, you watch as as it hits the top spot on tumblr trending because it’s the season finale but then a week later it’s trending again because of another episode and you’re confused and then you find out that practically the entire. series. is being released out of order
Imagine if Chat Noir’s identity was a mystery the whole time and throughout the entire series we didn’t know he was actually Adrien until the big reveal…
Have Ladybug conflicted on these two guys, the cat boy weedling his way into her heart. and the other sweet boy that is always praising her.
The love square drama is actually a secret because Chat noir and Adrien act like completely different people in Marinette’s mind, but as the series goes on, we start to see an overlap.
The only down side is we wouldn’t see Plagg that much

I’d argue that Oblivio ALREADY means something, and not just as a tease. It helped to show what Marinette and Adrien are like outside of societal pressure and baggage. I found it especially enlightening when it came to Adrien, since before that episode, I would’ve assumed that, absent his father’s control, he’d act just like Chat in his daily life with maybe a smidge less flirting. But he mostly acted like, well, Adrien. Even when he transformed, he bantered a bit, but he wasn’t anywhere near as cocky or jokey as usual, though he still seemed to be having fun.
I do agree with your statement, Oblivio had an impact on how we view the two’s character core. What I meant is that it wouldn’t just be an insight into characters. It would impact how the viewer saw the show. It would bring to light the love square. Oblivio would hold a lot of Narrative weight as well as character growth weight. (plus this plays into finding out that Adrien Agreste, Hawkmoth’s son is a hero, while he is a villain.) it would be a bridge between shipping in the context. We would also get a massive expansion on both character’s being one if this concept was real
True, it would definitely elevate it from being a pretty important episode for viewers to being a HOLY SHIT EVERYTHING WE THOUGHT WE KNEW HAS CHANGED episode.
Just imagine the Ladynoir/marichat ship and the Adrienette/Ladrien ships realizing they were the SAME SHIP all along. The amazingness that would bridge the divided factions into brotherhood/sisterhood. A beautiful sight where ships do not sink each other but merge and grow into Battleships.

What high schools (in the USA and possibly elsewhere, I’ve only been to school here) do is make something so exciting and natural- learning- into pain and drudgery, hours and hours of mindless busywork for very little actual information received, pure regurgitation without understanding, with taskmasters to monitor and punish you if you do it in any way they don’t like.
Left to ourselves, without pain and punishments and enforcers grinding our noses, we seek out learning like bees to flowers.
